Is there an interesting story behind your username?
Not really a story. If you're curious, and you probably are, it's from Paul McAuley's Books of Confluence.
Location and language(s):
Massachusetts (United States). I speak English and I took a year of Mandarin in high school.
Age range (e.g 20s, 30s, etc.):
30s.
Hot button/deal breaker issues that will likely lead to unfriending:
Don't be an anti-vaxxer. I don't care what you're reasoning is, you've stolen over two years of my life.
Do you have an "About Me" post new friends can read to get a sense of who you are, the people you talk about regularly, etc.?
No, the best way to get a sense of who I am is to read entries.
Is your profile up-to-date or at all useful?
Not really. I mean, I should probably update the interests.
You mostly write about:
Things that happen. People I meet. Museum visits and concerts. Left-wing politics. Real left-wing politics, not that Way of the Bern garbage. Every year around Christmas, I'll play twelve weird video games, take a whole bunch of screenshots, and comment on them. One day the pandemic will be over and I can get back to volunteering at a wildlife rehabber and drawing random train passengers and then writing about that.
You never or very rarely write about:
fandom.
Is your journal mostly public, locked, or a mix of public and locked?
It's all public.
Do you use filters for certain types of posts (e.g. fandom-related posts, or posts about sex, or mental health issues, etc.)?
No. Mostly because I'll never talk about those things.
Your posting frequency (e.g. daily, every few days, weekly, etc.):
Now that the pandemic has happened, maybe weekly-ish but there are long lulls.
Does your journal frequently include any of the following: memes, linkspams, gifs, photos, videos, etc?
I'll post pictures of art but I usually hide that behind a cut.
What do you enjoy most about journaling?
Having memories of better days.
How often do you read your friends list (e.g. daily, every other day, once a week, etc.)?
Daily-ish.
You really enjoy reading about:
I enjoy reading about the same sort of thing I write about.
You have very little interest in reading about:
Fandom.
Your thoughts on journals that regularly include any of the following: memes, linkspams, gifs, photos, videos, etc?
Just don't overdo it.
When it comes to comments on your posts, what matters more -- quality or quantity?
Quality is preferable. Don't just jump up and down on the keyboard and post the results if you can't think of something to say.
Do you unfriend people who don't comment much, even if you know they are reading you regularly?
No. I mean, all my posts are public. Unfriending is only for a major faux pas.
What is your approach when it comes to commenting on other journals?
I'll comment if I can think of something to say.
When you friend someone, but things don't really click, do you unfriend them without warning, or do you send them a note first? How do you prefer to be unfriended in similar circumstances?
I don't ever unfriend. If you're going to unfriend me and you have private entries, I'd like to know their reasons.
AND LASTLY
Friending memes often ask people to list their favourite TV shows, movies, books, etc., but more often than not, those aren't things people actually write about in their journal. Do you have any favourite TV shows, movies, books, etc., that you DO often write about -- not necessarily in a fandom sort of way, just in general?
I might talk about the book I'm reading or book hauls. Every year, I make a post about music discoveries. I'll also post about the concerts I go to, whether the music is new or familiar to me.
