Is there an interesting story behind your username? I lived in 東京都江戸川区松島X丁目 (Matsushima X-chome, Edogawa-ku, Tokyo) for seven years; it's the longest I've lived anywhere but the house I grew up in. I started going by Meep Matsushima because I needed a last name.
Location and language(s): D.C. suburbs, USA; English & 少し日本語
Age range: 30s
Hot button/deal breaker issues that will likely lead to unfriending: Let's do this the other way: I'm a disabled neurodivergent genderqueer lesbian Jew-in-progress. I'll let you make your assumptions from there.
Do you have an "About Me" post new friends can read to get a sense of who you are, the people you talk about regularly, etc.? Yes. It's here but it's friends only, like the rest of my journal.
Is your profile up-to-date or at all useful? It's up-to-date, but not especially detailed.
List a few things you think it's important new friends know about you right away: I'm disabled; I don't write about my disability(ies) in graphic detail but sometimes, when I'm having a symptom flare, I'll post about it a lot. I don't mean to be a downer, but sometimes that's what's on my mind.
You mostly write about: I write about my daily life, or sometimes an idea I've been chewing on lately. I'm a school librarian and graduate student, so I'll often write about that, or my (mis)adventures in learning to drive in my 30s, or what I'm reading/watching.
You never or very rarely write about: I don't really "do" fandom, so you won't see me posting fics or fanart or anything like that.
Is your journal mostly public, locked, or a mix of public and locked? Its 100% locked.
Do you use filters for certain types of posts? No, but I use cuts when I'm writing about something particularly sensitive and/or boring. If there's a topic you don't want to read about, you're welcome to give me a heads up and I'll warn and cut for it if it comes up.
Your posting frequency: Erratic, but I'm trying to get more consistent.
Does your journal frequently include any of the following: memes, linkspams, gifs, photos, videos, etc? Nope.
What do you enjoy most about journaling? I like writing about my daily life and knowing that it's there to look back on. My LiveJournal (archived on another account here) goes back to the year I started high school; I can flip to a random date and see what was on my mind 10, almost 20 years ago. I've been on LJ/Dw for over half my life.
How often do you read your friends list? I read daily, although I comment infrequently.
You really enjoy reading about: I like reading about people's daily lives. This was one of the things I really loved about LiveJournal, vs. keeping a private diary. I liked the intimacy of sharing these peeks into our private lives, especially people who were living really different lives from me.
You have very little interest in reading about: I don't really read fanfiction any more and, since I sometimes check Dw on my breaks at work, I'd ask any NSFW content to be under a cut. (No judge, but my computer monitor is visible from the circ desk.)
Your thoughts on journals that regularly include any of the following: memes, linkspams, gifs, photos, videos, etc? I mean, you do you, but if that's the majority of your posts, we probably won't get on too well? At least, not as Dw friends.
When it comes to comments on your posts, what matters more -- quality or quantity? Whatever, I don't mind. Don't spam, obviously.
Do you unfriend people who don't comment much, even if you know they are reading you regularly? Nope! That would be wildly hypocritical of me.
What is your approach when it comes to commenting on other journals? If you like to get lots of comments, please let me know - I generally don't comment unless I've got something (hopefully) thoughtful to add..
When you friend someone, but things don't really click, do you unfriend them without warning, or do you send them a note first? How do you prefer to be unfriended in similar circumstances? If we're just not clicking, I'll probably reach out. There are a few specific circumstances where I might quietly see myself out, like surprise! proselytizing!! (I do not mean talking about your religious life or taking joy in your own religious experiences. I actually love to hear about that, from any religion! I mean something like getting in my comments telling me to come to Jesus.)
AND LASTLY
Friending memes often ask people to list their favourite TV shows, movies, books, etc., but more often than not, those aren't things people actually write about in their journal. Do you have any favourite TV shows, movies, books, etc., that you DO often write about -- not necessarily in a fandom sort of way, just in general? There are a few that come up: The Hunger Games, Redwall, Harry Potter (specifically, my frustration with the fandom that won't let go despite the author's turn for the worse), His Dark Materials, The Silmarillion, TSUBASA: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE, Saiyuki and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Others that I've engaged with recently and might write about more as I watch/read: Interview with the Vampire, Rings of Power, and Criminal Minds (my problematic fave).
Any final thoughts you'd like to share with potential new friends? There was no question about hobbies, so I want to say that I am a crocheter! I love talking and learning about different fiber crafts - or any kind of craft, really!
