Is there an interesting story behind your username?
I used to joke that I would marry the person who recognized the significance of my username without having to be told it, LOL. It's not that interesting of a story, though -- it's just my first name in rot13 code. Oh -- and I prefer it written in all lowercase. For some reason I don't like how it looks with a capital X.

Location and language(s): United States. I speak English. I hope to learn Japanese some day!

Age range (e.g 20s, 30s, etc.): 40s

Hot button/deal breaker issues that will likely lead to unfriending:
Hmm, this is a tough one! I'm liberal, so I don't have much patience for conservative viewpoints, but I don't know if that would lead to unfriending.

Do you have an "About Me" post new friends can read to get a sense of who you are, the people you talk about regularly, etc.?
I don't, but my profile links to Shakesville's post about expecting more and I think that post gives a good idea of my ideals.

Is your profile up-to-date or at all useful?
My profile is pretty bare, so I wouldn't call it useful. I should probably change that. I definitely need to weed my interests -- they're out of date.

List a few things you think it's important new friends know about you right away:
I have bipolar type II and general anxiety disorder, and a lot of my journal is writing about my struggles with this.

You mostly write about:
1. Video games, especially Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. I like to write posts about my adventures in FFBE when I beat tough bosses, etc.
2. Crafting, specifically knitting and crochet. I write a monthly post updating folks about my crafting adventures.
3. My therapy sessions with my counselor. I write reflection posts after my meetings with her, every two weeks.
4. Other brain weasel-y posts that I need to write about at any given time.

You never or very rarely write about:
Politics. I may be liberal but I don't write about politics in my journal, nor do I really care to read about politics from others.

Is your journal mostly public, locked, or a mix of public and locked?
A mix of public and locked. My video game/crafting posts are public. Everything else is access locked.

Do you use filters for certain types of posts (e.g. fandom-related posts, or posts about sex, or mental health issues, etc.)?
Yes, I have one filter that I use when I'm feeling particularly vulnerable, and only post to my most trusted circle members.

Your posting frequency (e.g. daily, every few days, weekly, etc.):
It ebbs and flows, though lately I post a few times a week. I have in the past gone months without posting, but I don't see that happening right now.

Does your journal frequently include any of the following: memes, linkspams, gifs, photos, videos, etc?
I do memes occasionally - going to be starting one today, about Final Fantasy. I don't do linkspams or gifs. If I post photos or videos I try to remember to post them behind a cut.

What do you enjoy most about journaling?
It's a way for me to grow. I've been journaling for a long time, and I love looking back at old entries and seeing just how far I've come. It helps me know myself better, and is also one of the few ways I get interaction with others these days. I'm a raging introvert so I don't have many friends, but through my journal I'm able to get the interaction that even an introvert needs at times.

How often do you read your friends list (e.g. daily, every other day, once a week, etc.)?
Several times a day!

You really enjoy reading about:
People's lives in general. Video games. Crafts. But mostly general life stuff.

You have very little interest in reading about:
Politics.

Your thoughts on journals that regularly include any of the following: memes, linkspams, gifs, photos, videos, etc?

NO GIFS. I do not like gifs. The others I don't mind. I sometimes can get annoyed if a post has a lot of photos, but that's why I have image placeholders turned on, so my reading page doesn't explode from oversized photos.

When it comes to comments on your posts, what matters more -- quality or quantity?
Quality. I mostly journal for me. While I'm always appreciative to get comments, I don't care if I don't get a lot.

Do you unfriend people who don't comment much, even if you know they are reading you regularly?
That would be hypocritical of me, as I'm not the best at commenting myself... so, no.

What is your approach when it comes to commenting on other journals?
Being that I'm an introvert, I usually only comment when I have something that I really want to say.

When you friend someone, but things don't really click, do you unfriend them without warning, or do you send them a note first? How do you prefer to be unfriended in similar circumstances?
That's a good question! Honestly, I'm more likely to just move the person off my default reading list, so they still remain in my circle but I don't read them. If we REALLY don't click, though... I guess I would just remove them from my circle without warning. As for how I would prefer this to be handled myself: I say in my profile that anyone can remove me whenever they want. I'm not someone to make drama. I might get confused and wonder what happened, but I would probably just let it go.

AND LASTLY

Friending memes often ask people to list their favourite TV shows, movies, books, etc., but more often than not, those aren't things people actually write about in their journal. Do you have any favourite TV shows, movies, books, etc., that you DO often write about -- not necessarily in a fandom sort of way, just in general?

Final Fantasy! I write about the franchise as a whole, but especially Brave Exvius. Otherwise, no. I don't watch TV or go to the movies, and for several years I barely read novels. I'm slowly getting back into reading again and might post about those books in my journal.

Any final thoughts you'd like to share with potential new friends?

Hmm. In the past, I've had comments from people in my circle saying that they found reading my journal to be beneficial, perhaps because I work through my neuroses in my entries. I've always been gobsmacked and humbled when someone says something like that. While I mostly write for myself, it's heartening to know that I'm helping others too, since that is something that really resonates with me. I hope my journal can continue to be a source of help for others.

Why hello!

Is there an interesting story behind your username?
Actually there is, I kind of based it on the song by Karen Carpenter. Also, I just love rainy days... not so sure about Mondays though... LOL

Location and language(s): Newmarket, Canada, and I speak mainly English... but I am learning Yiddish, Russian, French, Italian and German... so...
Age range (e.g 20s, 30s, etc.):

Hot button/deal breaker issues that will likely lead to unfriending: I hardly unfriend people without a really good reason.

Do you have an "About Me" post new friends can read to get a sense of who you are, the people you talk about regularly, etc.
Hells yes. The first post. :)

Is your profile up-to-date or at all useful?
Not really.

List a few things you think it's important new friends know about you right away: I'm outspoken, I love getting and giving comments, I am an acquired taste... lol

You mostly write about: Daily stuff, sometimes memes...

You never or very rarely write about: Nothing is off limits. :)

Is your journal mostly public, locked, or a mix of public and locked? My posts are all public.

Do you use filters for certain types of posts (e.g. fandom-related posts, or posts about sex, or mental health issues, etc.) Nope..

Your posting frequency (e.g. daily, every few days, weekly, etc.): Daily .. sometimes hourly...

Does your journal frequently include any of the following: memes, linkspams, gifs, photos, videos, etc? Yass...

What do you enjoy most about journaling? Meeting new friends.

How often do you read your friends list (e.g. daily, every other day, once a week, etc.)? All the time. :)

You really enjoy reading about: Anything under the su

You have very little interest in reading about: Sexual escapades.

Your thoughts on journals that regularly include any of the following: memes, linkspams, gifs, photos, videos, etc? They are ok.

When it comes to comments on your posts, what matters more -- quality or quantity? A bit of both really.

Do you unfriend people who don't comment much, even if you know they are reading you regularly? Nope.

What is your approach when it comes to commenting on other journals? I <3 it.

When you friend someone, but things don't really click, do you unfriend them without warning, or do you send them a note first? How do you prefer to be unfriended in similar circumstances? I send aing note to see if we could patch things up

AND LASTLY

Friending memes often ask people to list their favourite TV shows, movies, books, etc., but more often than not, those aren't things people actually write about in their journal. Do you have any favourite TV shows, movies, books, etc., that you DO often write about -- not necessarily in a fandom sort of way, just in general? I am obsessed with Eleventy from Dr. Who, Harry Potter and The X-Files, NOS4A2, BTVS and the Sims games... but yeah, I do.

Any final thoughts you'd like to share with potential new friends?
I have Tourette so I swear a lot. I hope that doesn't turn y'all off! Lets be friends!

[personal profile] sodium_amytal

Is there an interesting story behind your username? Honestly it's too weird to explain in a blurb so just uhhh read this and search for "sodium amytal." I am a Bad Taste Basic Bitch™ (In all fairness, I made this username in my early 20s and spent a great deal of my fandom time intentionally pushing boundaries, so *shrugs*)

Location and language(s): USA. English.

Age range (e.g 20s, 30s, etc.): Late 20s.

Hot button/deal breaker issues that will likely lead to unfriending: Disregard of YKINMKATO. Shaming people for what they like. Just general ass-hattery.

Do you have an "About Me" post new friends can read to get a sense of who you are, the people you talk about regularly, etc.? Just looking through my profile or my journal posts should give you an idea of who I am. I just post artwork, fic, and random Youtube videos.

Is your profile up-to-date or at all useful? It should be, if you're looking for things I'm interested in or my AO3 profile.

List a few things you think it's important new friends know about you right away: I'm very "ship and let ship." I'm not interested in discourse. I'm a big fan and proponent of RPF, so if that squicks or offends you, you might want to walk on by.

You mostly write about: Lately most of my entries are random Youtube videos, since I haven't been creating much content of my own lately. If/when I finish or start posting a fic, I'll definitely share it in my journal. Same goes for artwork. My fandoms tend to be all over the place, but right now I'm into the MCU.

You never or very rarely write about: Politics or general real-life things.

Is your journal mostly public, locked, or a mix of public and locked? A mix. Sometimes I put the more "cringy" stuff under a lock, but that's usually just things I'm embarrassed about liking/creating.

Do you use filters for certain types of posts (e.g. fandom-related posts, or posts about sex, or mental health issues, etc.)? I don't have that kind of energy, lol.

Your posting frequency (e.g. daily, every few days, weekly, etc.): I'm so bad at maintaining a schedule. I tend to post whenever I feel the urge.

Does your journal frequently include any of the following: memes, linkspams, gifs, photos, videos, etc? I've been posting a lot of videos recently. I try to post art, but I'm not very productive right now. Also I love those journal meme things. I could post those all day.

What do you enjoy most about journaling? That I can put things under lock, and the lack of retweeting/resharing that lets things get out-of-control viral.

How often do you read your friends list (e.g. daily, every other day, once a week, etc.)? Multiple times daily. I refresh that shit like it's a Tumblr dash.

You really enjoy reading about: Fannish thoughts, meta, reviews, fanfic, tutorials, journal memes.

You have very little interest in reading about: personal posts

Your thoughts on journals that regularly include any of the following: memes, linkspams, gifs, photos, videos, etc? All fine by me! I love that stuff.

When it comes to comments on your posts, what matters more -- quality or quantity? Quality, for sure. I won't turn my nose up at quick "cool art!" comments, but I really love in-depth thoughtful comments, especially on my writing.

Do you unfriend people who don't comment much, even if you know they are reading you regularly? Nah. I'm not super great at commenting, so I can't blame anyone else for being quiet.

What is your approach when it comes to commenting on other journals? I usually only comment when I have something to say. I try to comment on art posts more often than not. Despite seeming like a brash jerkoff, I'm actually a shy bean who's terrified of saying the wrong thing, and without a "like" button I can't really communicate that I've seen your post in a way that pleases my introvert brain.

When you friend someone, but things don't really click, do you unfriend them without warning, or do you send them a note first? How do you prefer to be unfriended in similar circumstances? I usually just unfriend without warning. I go through fandoms pretty quickly, so I can understand if someone unfriends because they're no longer interested in my stuff. No hard feelings.

AND LASTLY

Friending memes often ask people to list their favourite TV shows, movies, books, etc., but more often than not, those aren't things people actually write about in their journal. Do you have any favourite TV shows, movies, books, etc., that you DO often write about -- not necessarily in a fandom sort of way, just in general? I'm heavily into Marvel right now, so hit me up if you're into the MCU! (I need friends to flail to about my WIP!) Other than that, my fandoms tend to fall on the obscure side (just check my journal's sidebar tags to see what I mean). I also write/draw original stuff if you're into that, though I don't post about my OCs as much as I should.

Any final thoughts you'd like to share with potential new friends? I'm really not as abrasive as this post probably makes me seem! ;o; I'd love to meet new people who share my interests or like my content!

Is there an interesting story behind your username?
Not really, it's part of a line I read in a poem that I enjoyed and that wound up hanging in my brain for long after I finished the poem collection.

Location and language(s):
English speaker living outside of Nashville Tennessee.

Age range (e.g 20s, 30s, etc.):
Late 20's

Hot button/deal breaker issues that will likely lead to unfriending:
Look, if you come at me, trying to tell me how to exist, how my friends need to exist, or anything like that, just fuck right off. I cope in the ways I cope, I function in the best way I know how and if you have an issue with that, please leave.

Do you have an "About Me" post new friends can read to get a sense of who you are, the people you talk about regularly, etc.?<
I do!

Is your profile up-to-date or at all useful?
Eh, not really. The About post is more useful.

List a few things you think it's important new friends know about you right away:
- Liberal
- Queer and non-binary
- Disabled
- semi-professional writer type (meaning I have been paid for writing and am actively working on sending out fiction to paying markets.)

You mostly write about:
Random day to day stuff and on Fridays, I do a support post where I invite people to comment on things they've managed to do that week, the things they might have trouble with an whatever else you feel inclined to babble about.

You never or very rarely write about:
Politics mostly, though I lean very liberal by nature.

Is your journal mostly public, locked, or a mix of public and locked?
Definitely a mix.

Do you use filters for certain types of posts (e.g. fandom-related posts, or posts about sex, or mental health issues, etc.)?
I do not but I do use cut tags for mental health issues and occasionally longer posts in general..

Your posting frequency (e.g. daily, every few days, weekly, etc.):
I do my best to post the Friday posts, so at least once a week, ideally two or three.

Does your journal frequently include any of the following: memes, linkspams, gifs, photos, videos, etc?
It does not.

What do you enjoy most about journaling?
It's a way to keep track of life, functioning and general stuff that is going on around me.

How often do you read your friends list (e.g. daily, every other day, once a week, etc.)?
Unless something is going on, every day.

You really enjoy reading about:
Things you are passionate about, daily existing, recs for books/movies/tv/media of any variety and just...Whatever you feel like showing off, honestly.,

You have very little interest in reading about:
Nothing really, I'm good with whatever.

Your thoughts on journals that regularly include any of the following: memes, linkspams, gifs, photos, videos, etc?
I'm cool with it.

When it comes to comments on your posts, what matters more -- quality or quantity?
Do what is best for you. If you feel like spilling your brain, go for it. If you just want to leave a heart or some kind of acknowledgement, that's cool too.

Do you unfriend people who don't comment much, even if you know they are reading you regularly?
Nah, not really. I hardly unfriend people, honestly.

What is your approach when it comes to commenting on other journals?
I do my best but mental health occasionally leaves me just plain exhausted and unable to word.

When you friend someone, but things don't really click, do you unfriend them without warning, or do you send them a note first? How do you prefer to be unfriended in similar circumstances?
I quietly unfriend and am fine with unfriending in whatever manner you feel comfortable doing.

AND LASTLY - Friending memes often ask people to list their favourite TV shows, movies, books, etc., but more often than not, those aren't things people actually write about in their journal. Do you have any favourite TV shows, movies, books, etc., that you DO often write about -- not necessarily in a fandom sort of way, just in general?
Nothing really that is jumping to mind, I might mention something I'm consuming but it's not often.

Any final thoughts you'd like to share with potential new friends?
Come say hi! :D I love talking to new folks and am happy to welcome you, whoever you are.

Is there an interesting story behind your username? Not ... especially? It's the name of a WoW Shadow Priest that I haven't played in forever and a bit of a pun, depending on how you parse it.

Location and language(s): Southeastern US. Only fluent in English, have forgotten large swathes of my German vocabulary, still terrible at Japanese thanks to dropping out of my lessons

Age range (e.g 20s, 30s, etc.): 40s

Hot button/deal breaker issues that will likely lead to unfriending: anti-LGBT rhetoric, Christian evangelizing, poor-shaming

Do you have an "About Me" post new friends can read to get a sense of who you are, the people you talk about regularly, etc.? nope, everybody gets tossed into the deep end together.

Is your profile up-to-date or at all useful? It's up to date, though how useful it is....

List a few things you think it's important new friends know about you right away: I'm queer, I'm disabled, I freelance when I can, and I write. A LOT.

You mostly write about: it's summer now, so the garden and my writing are always getting mentioned

You never or very rarely write about: sports of any kind

Is your journal mostly public, locked, or a mix of public and locked? Almost entirely locked, mostly out of habit at this point, but also because I use the names of family and I don't censor myself on my own journal, meaning my DW is something I don't need my martyr mom getting ahold of to make herself even more of the victim.

Do you use filters for certain types of posts (e.g. fandom-related posts, or posts about sex, or mental health issues, etc.)? I haven't in awhile now. I've thought about it a couple times, but generally run out of energy before making any of the sorts of posts I'd filter (in-depth paganism, forex)

Your posting frequency (e.g. daily, every few days, weekly, etc.): Currently every day, twice on Mondays. I'm considering starting a Song of the Day series, if/when I do, it'll be twice a day so music posts are separate from life posts.

Does your journal frequently include any of the following: memes, linkspams, gifs, photos, videos, etc? music posts almost always include a YT embed. Sometimes I do memes, but I don't know if not quite once a week counts as frequent. :p

What do you enjoy most about journaling? it's a good way to empty my brain of things that need out

How often do you read your friends list (e.g. daily, every other day, once a week, etc.)? at least once a day

You really enjoy reading about: lots of things... if the author is passionate and factually accurate, that helps ;)

You have very little interest in reading about: sports, teeth, hatefulness

Your thoughts on journals that regularly include any of the following: memes, linkspams, gifs, photos, videos, etc? your journal, you do you~

When it comes to comments on your posts, what matters more -- quality or quantity? quality. I am myself bad to not comment, so I don't expect anyone to comment on my stuff unless they feel they have a meaningful contribution, even if it's just to reassure me I've been heard.

Do you unfriend people who don't comment much, even if you know they are reading you regularly? nope. see also: above

What is your approach when it comes to commenting on other journals? I tend to be a quiet reader. If I have something to add, then I probably will, but a lot of times I just read and go on.

When you friend someone, but things don't really click, do you unfriend them without warning, or do you send them a note first? How do you prefer to be unfriended in similar circumstances? I ... haven't really had to do this in awhile? But if we don't click, an unfriending with a note so I know what's going on is fine.

AND LASTLY

Friending memes often ask people to list their favourite TV shows, movies, books, etc., but more often than not, those aren't things people actually write about in their journal. Do you have any favourite TV shows, movies, books, etc., that you DO often write about -- not necessarily in a fandom sort of way, just in general? I feel like this is where I should put in BIG BLINKING LETTERS (no, I won't actually do that) that I write RPF in the Jrock fandom. A LOT. And honestly? A lot of that is because, out of all my many, many fandoms (I've been living the fandom life for over 20 years now), it's been one of the most responsive without pushing me into a burnout. So. I mean, I do write about other things (like my original fiction), but Jrock/Visual Kei is kinda my brand and thing.

Any final thoughts you'd like to share with potential new friends? My disability includes cognitive defects/impairments that can come and go (concussions are fun! not), and I often get overwhelmed by Wall-o-Text posts. Also, I think I just used up a huge chunk of my social spoons for the day just writing this, so, um. Hi.
