Is there an interesting story behind your username?
i guess it all depends on what you consider interesting! if you wanted to get specific, it's a reference to disc golf.

Location and language(s):
living in a rural area in texas. i primarily speak/write english but i have basic knowledge of spanish. and speak it with just enough gusto to make my family or friends chuckle when inevitably say the wrong word or phrase.

Age range (e.g 20s, 30s, etc.):
early 30s. wait... is 33 still considered early?

Hot button/deal breaker issues that will likely lead to unfriending:
just general rudeness for no reason. i am all about supporting my people when you have a bad day or are going through a rough patch. but if you're a dick purposely and don't apologize for it at some point in the near future, i just don't need that in my life. otherwise, we're good. :)

Do you have an "About Me" post new friends can read to get a sense of who you are, the people you talk about regularly, etc.?
i do, actually! not sure how exciting it is, but it is what it is.

Is your profile up-to-date or at all useful?
not particularly lol. i still need to think of what i want to include in it since i'm transitioning from LJ.

List a few things you think it's important new friends know about you right away:
i like disc golf. like, a lot. you'll come to find that extremely quickly lol.

You mostly write about:
my day to day. we just bought a house so a lot of talk about all those little nuances. also, disc golf. that's pretty much what my life consists of! at some point, there'll be more talk of babies and trying to get pregnant, but i'll post those under cuts for potential trigger warnings.

You never or very rarely write about:
i'm not sure. it all depends on what my mood is that day! i'd say fandoms since i don't have any? otherwise, everything is fair game.

Is your journal mostly public, locked, or a mix of public and locked?
locked down with a fierceness. i'm just a very private person in general, and there's some things i'd rather keep behind closed doors.

Do you use filters for certain types of posts (e.g. fandom-related posts, or posts about sex, or mental health issues, etc.)?
i don't know what is meant by filters, but in terms of i do add cuts for length/triggers/pictures just to save everyone some bandwidth.

Your posting frequency (e.g. daily, every few days, weekly, etc.):
i'm trying to make it a more regular habit. i'd say at least a couple times a week, maybe less maybe more.

Does your journal frequently include any of the following: memes, linkspams, gifs, photos, videos, etc?
i'll include some photos here and there, but behind a cut. maybe memes, but that's more what my social media is for. lol.

What do you enjoy most about journaling?
personally, i like being able to put down what i'm feeling/experiencing so i have something to look back on. i also enjoy seeing my friends on their own respective journeys and how we all just.. grow.

How often do you read your friends list (e.g. daily, every other day, once a week, etc.)?
daily, if not more.

You really enjoy reading about:
anything you have going on in your life or feel passionate about. you!

You have very little interest in reading about:
not really sure. we all have our own quirks and views on life, and it's all pretty interesting in some form or fashion to me!

Your thoughts on journals that regularly include any of the following: memes, linkspams, gifs, photos, videos, etc?
do you, boo. i'm not here to judge.

When it comes to comments on your posts, what matters more -- quality or quantity?
quality, i suppose. either way is fine. knowing that someone took the time to even read a couple of words can make someone's day. so thanks!

Do you unfriend people who don't comment much, even if you know they are reading you regularly?
nah. we're all too busy to be tied to some superficial goal of certain types or recurring comments. if you take time out of your day to read or comment, i appreciate it. if you don't, no harm no foul.

What is your approach when it comes to commenting on other journals?
i love reading about others and will try to comment when i can - but see above. ♥ we're all grown, and i may miss an entry or 5 - not on purpose.

When you friend someone, but things don't really click, do you unfriend them without warning, or do you send them a note first? How do you prefer to be unfriended in similar circumstances?
i consider myself pretty easygoing, so it would take a lot to unfriend. (see rude people deal breakers above!) it would all depend on the issue. if you want to unfriend me, that's fine. if we're close-ish, maybe a heads up would be cool - but i'm not here to judge who is willing to give me access to their innermost thoughts or not. i hope we get along, but if we don't, i still wish you well.

AND LASTLY

Friending memes often ask people to list their favourite TV shows, movies, books, etc., but more often than not, those aren't things people actually write about in their journal. Do you have any favourite TV shows, movies, books, etc., that you DO often write about -- not necessarily in a fandom sort of way, just in general?
not particularly anymore. the most i watch on tv is the news (getting to know our local area/being weather aware) and youtube for disc golf lol. we mostly spend our time outdoors if not working.

Any final thoughts you'd like to share with potential new friends?
thanks for giving this gal a read, and i hope to get to know you better soon!

Is there an interesting story behind your username?
Not really a story. If you're curious, and you probably are, it's from Paul McAuley's Books of Confluence.

Location and language(s):
Massachusetts (United States). I speak English and I took a year of Mandarin in high school.

Age range (e.g 20s, 30s, etc.):
30s.

Hot button/deal breaker issues that will likely lead to unfriending:
Don't be an anti-vaxxer. I don't care what you're reasoning is, you've stolen over two years of my life.

Do you have an "About Me" post new friends can read to get a sense of who you are, the people you talk about regularly, etc.?
No, the best way to get a sense of who I am is to read entries.

Is your profile up-to-date or at all useful?
Not really. I mean, I should probably update the interests.

You mostly write about:
Things that happen. People I meet. Museum visits and concerts. Left-wing politics. Real left-wing politics, not that Way of the Bern garbage. Every year around Christmas, I'll play twelve weird video games, take a whole bunch of screenshots, and comment on them. One day the pandemic will be over and I can get back to volunteering at a wildlife rehabber and drawing random train passengers and then writing about that.

You never or very rarely write about:
fandom.

Is your journal mostly public, locked, or a mix of public and locked?
It's all public.

Do you use filters for certain types of posts (e.g. fandom-related posts, or posts about sex, or mental health issues, etc.)?
No. Mostly because I'll never talk about those things.

Your posting frequency (e.g. daily, every few days, weekly, etc.):
Now that the pandemic has happened, maybe weekly-ish but there are long lulls.

Does your journal frequently include any of the following: memes, linkspams, gifs, photos, videos, etc?
I'll post pictures of art but I usually hide that behind a cut.

What do you enjoy most about journaling?
Having memories of better days.

How often do you read your friends list (e.g. daily, every other day, once a week, etc.)?
Daily-ish.

You really enjoy reading about:
I enjoy reading about the same sort of thing I write about.

You have very little interest in reading about:
Fandom.

Your thoughts on journals that regularly include any of the following: memes, linkspams, gifs, photos, videos, etc?
Just don't overdo it.

When it comes to comments on your posts, what matters more -- quality or quantity?
Quality is preferable. Don't just jump up and down on the keyboard and post the results if you can't think of something to say.

Do you unfriend people who don't comment much, even if you know they are reading you regularly?
No. I mean, all my posts are public. Unfriending is only for a major faux pas.

What is your approach when it comes to commenting on other journals?
I'll comment if I can think of something to say.

When you friend someone, but things don't really click, do you unfriend them without warning, or do you send them a note first? How do you prefer to be unfriended in similar circumstances?
I don't ever unfriend. If you're going to unfriend me and you have private entries, I'd like to know their reasons.

AND LASTLY

Friending memes often ask people to list their favourite TV shows, movies, books, etc., but more often than not, those aren't things people actually write about in their journal. Do you have any favourite TV shows, movies, books, etc., that you DO often write about -- not necessarily in a fandom sort of way, just in general?

I might talk about the book I'm reading or book hauls. Every year, I make a post about music discoveries. I'll also post about the concerts I go to, whether the music is new or familiar to me.
