Seeking new friends...

Since my friends list is becoming a wasteland...

Is there an interesting story behind your username? A play on my first name.

Location and language(s): Central Texas, English

Age range (e.g 20s, 30s, etc.): Turned 40 this January.

Hot button/deal breaker issues that will likely lead to unfriending: Politics. While I think I'm more open-minded than before, I far more prefer discussion focused solely on issues and events rather than politicians than groups, and am very sensitive about the rhetoric used.

Do you have an "About Me" post new friends can read to get a sense of who you are, the people you talk about regularly, etc.? Yes, my sticky journal header and my recent political posts so you can get an idea of how I like to discuss politics and current events.

Is your profile up-to-date or at all useful? Up-to-date regarding my interests, and I'll try to work on a new bio, but I'm super ADHD now and need to find the time.

List a few things you think it's important new friends know about you right away: I'm a high-functioning autistic who has faced severe psychological abuse from my family and am trying to get out of my toxic household.

You mostly write about: What grinds my gears at the moment.

You never or very rarely write about: Things I don't care about.

Is your journal mostly public, locked, or a mix of public and locked? Mixed.

Do you use filters for certain types of posts (e.g. fandom-related posts, or posts about sex, or mental health issues, etc.)? I don't use filters, but with political posts, I try to include a "trigger warning" in the subject.

Your posting frequency (e.g. daily, every few days, weekly, etc.): Depends upon how I feel, since I'm at a juncture in my life and need to get my mind in order.

Does your journal frequently include any of the following: memes, linkspams, gifs, photos, videos, etc? It depends.

What do you enjoy most about journaling? Being able to say what I want and discussing my views with people who are like-minded.

How often do you read your friends list (e.g. daily, every other day, once a week, etc.)? I try to do so daily.

You really enjoy reading about: Anything that piques my interests.

You have very little interest in reading about: Things that trigger me.

Your thoughts on journals that regularly include any of the following: memes, linkspams, gifs, photos, videos, etc? I don't mind as long as they don't trigger me.

When it comes to comments on your posts, what matters more -- quality or quantity? A mixture of both.

Do you unfriend people who don't comment much, even if you know they are reading you regularly? No.

What is your approach when it comes to commenting on other journals? I try to be diplomatic and as civil as possible, even when I disagree with others' opinions.

When you friend someone, but things don't really click, do you unfriend them without warning, or do you send them a note first? How do you prefer to be unfriended in similar circumstances? If something they say triggers me, I try to indicate they upset me yet be as diplomatic as possible and just unwatch them while letting them still comment in my journal.

Friending memes often ask people to list their favourite TV shows, movies, books, etc., but more often than not, those aren't things people actually write about in their journal. Do you have any favourite TV shows, movies, books, etc., that you DO often write about -- not necessarily in a fandom sort of way, just in general? I have a lot of favorites but tend only to write about them in intelligent reviews.

Any final thoughts you'd like to share with potential new friends? As long as you aren't mean in how you express your views or to me, we can definitely be friends.
