Is there an interesting story behind your username?
I have two main accounts here on dreamwidth, I am accepting friends requests on both accounts and they predominantly have very different content.
This one
dreamwriteremmy is my personal account, and its story spawns from a fairly niche but popular 2007-2014 LiveJournal self-insert Kingdom Hearts RPG series called World Refugees, which was a spin-off of the ever popular "Zombie Invasion Meme" going around at the time of creation. My character went by Emmy and originally used my old journal
ladybrighid3333. In 2009 I switched journals and chose this name because it was the name my character had chosen for herself in-game a a year or so earlier.
dreamwriters is our writing/art/public-fandom account. The story behind it is that it was a err... typographical error of sorts? XD Haha. We wrote a guest article for a Healthy Multiplicity by the plural friend currently running it a couple years ago as a part of the December Blogging Meme and as a request from a singlet (at least i think they were a singlet) with a plural friend looking for tips on ways to manage dissociation and time-weirdness, and at the time, all our sites used the tag "The DreamWriters Dreaming" and uh said plural friend didn't ask us for our system name tag and assumed that our system name was DreamWriters based on our website names. So, it kinda stuck and we decided it was too much of a hassle to correct them and why not? Superheroes can have 2 alteregos, why can't we? XD So Dreamers United became our personal overarching system name and The DreamWriters is the professional overarching alterego system name, which we use for business/advocacy purposes. And a couple years ago we corrected the username on this journal to be dreamwriters on all its mirrors. :D
Location and language(s):
northeastern massachusetts, currently Lowell MA. I speak predominantly English. I know some Spanish (used to be fluent but i don't remember a lot of it anymore), a tiny bit of Russian, a tiny bit of French-Canadian, a tiny bit of Cantonese Chinese, and a tiny bit of ASL. I'm currently only actively learning Cantonese and ASL, though.
Age range (e.g 20s, 30s, etc.):
30s
Hot button/deal breaker issues that will likely lead to unfriending:Eh. Proselytizing in general for ANYTHING (I love my Jesus-loving friends and my non-Jesus Loving friends -- I'm a Unitarian Universalist and an eclectic religious syncretist. I blend spiritual beliefs under the umbrella of "most spiritual teachers taught Love". Witch and Healer is a part of my personal spirituality and no one is going to change that for me). Abusive behavior if I get a report from someone else that you ain't a good person. Sometimes we just don't click and i may unfriend you for that too, but generally i'll let you know and i'd appreciate that being mutual.
Do you have an "About Me" post new friends can read to get a sense of who you are, the people you talk about regularly, etc.?
Sort-of but they're only semi-up-to-date. basically anything linked on the friends only post is fairly relevant.
Is your profile up-to-date or at all useful?
so-so. it's a little outdated still. i haven't gotten around to fixing it up completely.
List a few things you think it's important new friends know about you right away:
We're plural. We are predominantly composed of fictives and factives (that means people based off fictional people and people based of RL people). We're disabled. We have mental health and learning challenges. We are cat people predominantly, though warming up to dogs. We're queer & an afab nonbinary femme. We are creatives and fandom people.
You mostly write about:
real life, innerlife, ranting, writing, to-do lists, fandom, cosplay, art, graphics, memes/quizzes, occasionally video posts.
You never or very rarely write about:
NSFW stuff on here, politics
Is your journal mostly public, locked, or a mix of public and locked?
a mix, but mostly locked
Do you use filters for certain types of posts (e.g. fandom-related posts, or posts about sex, or mental health issues, etc.)?
Yes. We have 3 requestable filters. We have the cheerleading filter which is a productivity filter -- you post your to-dos, and there's a subcomment thread for people to "cheer on" each other. You can request critiques, if you're doing a writing/art project, however critiques are opt-in on both ends. 😄 We have the In-System Personal Stories filter, which delves into fictive and factive trauma, squicky/taboo system stuff, and basically anything we don't feel comfortable making completely public at the time. The final filter is the Are You OK filter. Sporadically, we will post a comments disabled self-care checkin post that simply asks "Are You Okay? This is a gentle self-care reminder."
Your posting frequency (e.g. daily, every few days, weekly, etc.):
variable. Could be multiple times a day, could be once a month. It really depends on what's going on and whether i'm more on other social media.
Does your journal frequently include any of the following: memes, linkspams, gifs, photos, videos, etc?
Occasionally. Mostly memes/photos/videos. Occasionally linkspams and gifs. I always try to explain/image describe what most photos/gifs are.
What do you enjoy most about journaling?
Getting shit out of our brain basically.
How often do you read your friends list (e.g. daily, every other day, once a week, etc.)?
I read daily. I may or may not comment. You may have to wait a week until I do my binge commenting spree on old posts.
You really enjoy reading about:
I"m open to anything tbh. I like daily posts reflecting on day. I like posts reflecting on fandom interests even if I don't share them.
You have very little interest in reading about:
Eh i'm not so interested in rl nsfw/kink filters, though i will read them. ❤️ I tend to personally keep my kink stuff on a separate journal entirely from both of the above because i have a couple kinks people have STRONG feelings about. Feel free to ask me in a DM, if you're interested in that one, but i'm really selective about who i add to the locked stuff on it TBH.
Your thoughts on journals that regularly include any of the following: memes, linkspams, gifs, photos, videos, etc?
perfectly fine!
When it comes to comments on your posts, what matters more -- quality or quantity?
Neither tbh. I accept nonverbal/semiverbal/low-spoon commenters! See my commenting policy! :D
Do you unfriend people who don't comment much, even if you know they are reading you regularly?
Not typically. See previous question's link.
What is your approach when it comes to commenting on other journals?
I may or may not comment. I often look for a blogger's commenting policy, so if you have one I will ADORE you! Often, you may be waiting a week until I do my binge commenting spree.
When you friend someone, but things don't really click, do you unfriend them without warning, or do you send them a note first? How do you prefer to be unfriended in similar circumstances?
Typically, I will message you UNLESS you end up being the second deal breaker in which case I've been warned that you are not safe to interact with. If we don't click, please tell me you're leaving! That way I can remove you mutually.
AND LASTLY
Friending memes often ask people to list their favourite TV shows, movies, books, etc., but more often than not, those aren't things people actually write about in their journal. Do you have any favourite TV shows, movies, books, etc., that you DO often write about -- not necessarily in a fandom sort of way, just in general?
Young Wizards series, Magic Ex Libris series, Harry Potter, anything Night Vale Presents podcasts/books, The Sims, The Rise of the Shield Hero, Black Clover, Blue Gender, Studio Ghibli, Gravity Falls, some horror stuff occasionally. Sometimes MCU/DCU, various original fictions I follow.
Any final thoughts you'd like to share with potential new friends? i don't think so.
