Is there an interesting story behind your username? Not really. I dig the song, and I was in a future punk phase lol.

Location and language(s): Canada, English. Trying to learn Spanish.

Age range (e.g 20s, 30s, etc.): Late 30s.

Hot button/deal breaker issues that will likely lead to unfriending: I will let you know when/if this becomes relevant. Outside of the general rule of trying your dang best to not be an asshole, I honestly try and give people a chance.

Do you have an "About Me" post new friends can read to get a sense of who you are, the people you talk about regularly, etc.? Yes, its the same post as my Friends Only post.

Is your profile up-to-date or at all useful? Absolutely useless, has nothing important in it at all except some interests. Check the friends only post, lol.

List a few things you think it's important new friends know about you right away: Genderfluid, living with mental illness & disabilities. I have really amazing people that I am working with and spent a lot of years working on it. Everything else will probably come in time?

You mostly write about: Day to day life, reflections, thoughts, plans, hopes, dreams. Things I'm working on, projects, interests.

You never or very rarely write about: Not much of a fandom person so probably not any fanfiction, fanart, or anything like that.

Is your journal mostly public, locked, or a mix of public and locked? Almost exclusively locked.

Do you use filters for certain types of posts (e.g. fandom-related posts, or posts about sex, or mental health issues, etc.)? I don't.

Your posting frequency (e.g. daily, every few days, weekly, etc.): It really fluctuates!

Does your journal frequently include any of the following: memes, linkspams, gifs, photos, videos, etc? Not really. I might end up posting links to my vlogs and reaction channel when/if I ever get that up and running again, people are more than welcome to ignore it. May post a photo here and there but I haven't done a meme in a hot minute. Sometimes they're fun?

What do you enjoy most about journaling? Its a great way to document what is going on, release stress and let things out, and in a community journaling aspect its also a great way to connect with people on a deeper manner than what a lot of modern social media offers.

How often do you read your friends list (e.g. daily, every other day, once a week, etc.)? Every few days I try to check in.

You really enjoy reading about: What everyone is up to! Honestly, I just like getting to know what is going on in peoples lives, what they are doing, etc.

You have very little interest in reading about: shrugs. If something doesn't tickle me, I just move past it.

Your thoughts on journals that regularly include any of the following: memes, linkspams, gifs, photos, videos, etc? Its fine for the most part. If its NOTHING but those things then I might have less interest as I want to find more connection and read about what's happening in peoples lives and the things they're up to. A little though, no problem. Sometimes memes and links and stuff help you get to know people more!

When it comes to comments on your posts, what matters more -- quality or quantity? Quality. Comment what you feel and however it rocks for you.

Do you unfriend people who don't comment much, even if you know they are reading you regularly? No.

What is your approach when it comes to commenting on other journals? If I have something to say, I say it.

When you friend someone, but things don't really click, do you unfriend them without warning, or do you send them a note first? How do you prefer to be unfriended in similar circumstances? Depends. If we don't click at all and hardly know one another then I will probably just unfriend. If we've gotten to know one another somewhat well and things are not clicking all of a sudden, then I might try and talk to them first.

AND LASTLY

Friending memes often ask people to list their favourite TV shows, movies, books, etc., but more often than not, those aren't things people actually write about in their journal. Do you have any favourite TV shows, movies, books, etc., that you DO often write about -- not necessarily in a fandom sort of way, just in general? At the moment, not really. I might talk about some music I like or a show/movie I watched that I enjoyed if I feel like I have something to talk about regarding them but I can't think about anything in particular right now.

Any final thoughts you'd like to share with potential new friends? Hello, and I hope we can become friends!!

Is there an interesting story behind your username? I'm a binturong therian. :P

Location and language(s): USA, English, learning Spanish. I will be moving to Central America soon.

Age range (e.g 20s, 30s, etc.) mid 20s.

Hot button/deal breaker issues that will likely lead to unfriending: I am pro-Palestine, pro-trans women, and against all forms of bigotry. I am also against censorship of and harassment over fiction. If you disagree, I don't necessarily know if my journal is the place for you... sorry.

Do you have an "About Me" post new friends can read to get a sense of who you are, the people you talk about regularly, etc.? I sort of do? I really should make an in-depth one, one of these days, but I already post a lot and I don't want to spam people's reading pages...

Is your profile up-to-date or at all useful? Sorta. It's kind of brief.

List a few things you think it's important new friends know about you right away:
1) I'm a plural system, so I have memory loss & other alters post here too
2) I'm neurodivergent sometimes I act odd or don't get social cues/misunderstand things
3) I'm half a fandom journal and half a personal one, and I have some darker fictional interests
4) I talk about spiritual stuff & being a psychic medium sometimes, it is real to me. I understand skepticism but please, don't be rude about this.

You mostly write about: My life, my creative work, complaining, fictosexuality & alterhumanity, plurality, disability justice, fandom stuff, spirituality

You never or very rarely write about: Triggering content that isn't warned for and under a cut; uhhh other than that you might see anything. I try not to post "discourse" or arguments/controversial topics though. But I am an opinionated person so sometimes it does slip through.

Is your journal mostly public, locked, or a mix of public and locked? It is access locked.

Do you use filters for certain types of posts (e.g. fandom-related posts, or posts about sex, or mental health issues, etc.)? No.

Your posting frequency (e.g. daily, every few days, weekly, etc.): I post at the very least every week.

Does your journal frequently include any of the following: memes, linkspams, gifs, photos, videos, etc? Eh sorta. I post photography sometimes. I want to start posting linkspams of things I find interesting. I also post memes sometimes.

What do you enjoy most about journaling?  I like how private it can be while still giving me the ability to interact with others. I like how it gives me the ability to make connections with people that feel more genuine and personal than connections made on mainstream internet websites. Everyone is so nice!

How often do you read your friends list (e.g. daily, every other day, once a week, etc.)? I check my reading page multiple times a day. I'm trying to make DW my main platform so I'm on here a lot... :')

You really enjoy reading about: Any kind of fandom thoughts, any kind of stuff about an individual's creative work, deep thoughts

You have very little interest in reading about: Just anything closed-minded

Your thoughts on journals that regularly include any of the following: memes, linkspams, gifs, photos, videos, etc? ...You do you?

When it comes to comments on your posts, what matters more -- quality or quantity? I  don't care I just like hearing from people!

Do you unfriend people who don't comment much, even if you know they are reading you regularly? No! Comments are optional for me. While I enjoy them, I just like talking on here in general, it's not a requirement.

What is your approach when it comes to commenting on other journals? I don't know... I just try to be respectful? Is there a particular approach I should have? I'm still kinda new here :')

When you friend someone, but things don't really click, do you unfriend them without warning, or do you send them a note first? How do you prefer to be unfriended in similar circumstances? I don't usually tell people unless they ask for it. I don't care if people tell me or not. I would prefer to know, so I don't forget in the future and add you back, but it's whatever.

AND LASTLY

Friending memes often ask people to list their favourite TV shows, movies, books, etc., but more often than not, those aren't things people actually write about in their journal. Do you have any favourite TV shows, movies, books, etc., that you DO often write about -- not necessarily in a fandom sort of way, just in general?

Yeah. I frequently post about: The Orville, Babylon 5, Doom Patrol.

Any final thoughts you'd like to share with potential new friends?

I'd love to meet anyone who isn't put off by any of the above and make new friends!!!

Is there an interesting story behind your username?
Suncani means sunny or shiny in serbian. I wanted something fairly neutral when I started participating online and it's stuck
Location and language(s):
UK, UK english, tiny bits of spanish and french. I used to speak more but it's whithered with disuse
Age range (e.g 20s, 30s, etc.):
early 30's
Hot button/deal breaker issues that will likely lead to unfriending:
Bullying, anti's anything that's imposing your opinion on others. We can disagree but everyone likes what they like, you don't need to tell them they're wrong or a bad person for it.
Do you have an "About Me" post new friends can read to get a sense of who you are, the people you talk about regularly, etc.?
Erm sort of? While I don't have too many posts I think they're a good reflection of the things I like and am most likely to talk about.
Is your profile up-to-date or at all useful?
Well the interests are but I think that's all that's on there, as I wasn't entirely sure what to put.
List a few things you think it's important new friends know about you right away:

I am incredibly inconsistent and my brain generally hates me. This means I can take forever to reply back to comments and triple think what I write. So if you get a comment that seems a bit odd, it's probably been edited to death. If I take a while to respond I'm not annoyed or uninterested I'm probably been reclusive. You mostly write about:
Things that I've found that I think are interesting, what I'm reading, current projects, a little bit of politics
You never or very rarely write about:
At the moment I'm still figuring out what I want to use my journal for so am loathe to say I'd never write about something, but that might change
Is your journal mostly public, locked, or a mix of public and locked?
Mostly public
Do you use filters for certain types of posts (e.g. fandom-related posts, or posts about sex, or mental health issues, etc.)?
I don't think so?
Your posting frequency (e.g. daily, every few days, weekly, etc.):
Aiming for at least every few days but this has been fairly sporadic so far
Does your journal frequently include any of the following: memes, linkspams, gifs, photos, videos, etc?
I like a good linkspam but try to limit to 2-3 and explain why I'm highlighting them
What do you enjoy most about journaling?
Chance to write regularly and attempt to become better at getting my thoughts down on paper in a coherent manner
How often do you read your friends list (e.g. daily, every other day, once a week, etc.)?
Daily
You really enjoy reading about:
Whatever other people are interested in. If someone has a passion for something it comes across in their writing and makes it interesting
You have very little interest in reading about:
Unrelenting negativity. Yes, the world is not as good as it can be, but I need some hope otherwise I end up sliding too.
Your thoughts on journals that regularly include any of the following: memes, linkspams, gifs, photos, videos, etc?
Some is good, if that's all their is, I may struggle to comment but will probably still read
When it comes to comments on your posts, what matters more -- quality or quantity?
Happy with either, whatever people choose to do is great by me
Do you unfriend people who don't comment much, even if you know they are reading you regularly?
Nope, I only really clean out lists once in a blue moon and then it would be complete inactivity for months/years
What is your approach when it comes to commenting on other journals?
If I have something to say, I'll comment but will generally be quite restrained in commenting I can be shy sometimes.
When you friend someone, but things don't really click, do you unfriend them without warning, or do you send them a note first? How do you prefer to be unfriended in similar circumstances?
Tend to just unfriend and would prefer the same. Sometimes things just don't click for any real reasons
AND LASTLY

Friending memes often ask people to list their favourite TV shows, movies, books, etc., but more often than not, those aren't things people actually write about in their journal. Do you have any favourite TV shows, movies, books, etc., that you DO often write about -- not necessarily in a fandom sort of way, just in general?

What I write about tends to be what I'm interested in at the time, I can be a bit of a butterfly skipping from one thing to the next Any final thoughts you'd like to share with potential new friends? If there's anything you're curious about come and say hi!

Is there an interesting story behind your username?
It's an alternative name for the element potassium. Chemistry is cool.

Location and language(s):
North-east England, English only.

Age range (e.g 20s, 30s, etc.):
30s. Nobody ever believes me...

Hot button/deal breaker issues that will likely lead to unfriending:
I feel like I should start with the usual - -isms of different stripes will make me keep away - but to be honest I've never felt like these people are that much of a problem here. So I'll just come out and say it - aggressive, weaponised social justice/your fave is problematic/cancel culture/any sort of shaming/creator hate in all its forms, also current events, politics, and that "everything is a horrific dystopia and there is no hope" feel, because I like having a will to live. Just generally being a jerk under the guise of progressivism. Please, no.

Do you have an "About Me" post new friends can read to get a sense of who you are, the people you talk about regularly, etc.?
Not really, but my profile should do the trick. I also have:

  • Story/'verse listings - because I am that person who works for too long on too many things. Includes monster-laden fantasy, cracky metafiction, a 90s/early 2000s magical critter throwback world, one lonely fanfic that isn't very fannish, and some weird thing involving Storybook Weaver.

  • Cautions! - sensitive stuff I may post about, that might be dealbreaking or upsetting to others.

Is your profile up-to-date or at all useful?
Sure. It's a few months old but I try to keep it reflective of who I am.

List a few things you think it's important new friends know about you right away:
I'm not in fandom, I just lurk around the edges because the internet seems to think fan activities are the sum total of all creativity so it's impossible to keep away from it. I'd love to meet more people who enjoy making their own creations! I enjoy worldbuilding, even if it's a dirty word to some. I'm also from that era of the internet where nobody knew you were a dog, which is why I don't have my identities listed. I miss it. A lot. I like personal websites, pre-Facebook media, the right of everyone no matter who they are to enjoy unicorns, and what I once called the rabbit hole internet. I can be shy and skittish with the anger that's so rampant around the modern internet, so I'm trying to deal with that. Basically, I wish it was the 90s.

You mostly write about:
The stuff I make, although I can be a bit shy after so long thinking nobody cares to hear about it, but I like to post the things I made and talk about the creative process, characters, plotting, worldbuilding, all that goodness. I miss tossing ideas back and forth with other creators and coming up with random details. Also take into account the stuff on my caution list - I do vent about bad SJ a lot, which probably sounds weird for someone who hates politics, but I consider it trying to untangle all the messed up things it did to my head. Same with working through mental health issues without a medical framework.

You never or very rarely write about:
Everyday life - jobs, family etc, except on rare occasions. I have no kids and don't want any, so none of that either. Current events or politics beyond the ranting-about-SJ stuff I warned about.

Is your journal mostly public, locked, or a mix of public and locked?
A mixture - creative stuff is usually public, anything personally identifying or controversial is locked because I fear the almighty dogpile and cancel.

Do you use filters for certain types of posts (e.g. fandom-related posts, or posts about sex, or mental health issues, etc.)?
Not so much. Probably should?

Your posting frequency (e.g. daily, every few days, weekly, etc.):
Usually once every few days, but it depends on what I have to say and how often.

Does your journal frequently include any of the following: memes, linkspams, gifs, photos, videos, etc?
No. I never used Tumblr very much, certainly not as a social platform, so I didn't pick up on its culture.

What do you enjoy most about journaling?
Being able to ramble in a private environment. I never liked places like Tumblr or Twitter because it felt like you were having a conversation with the entire world. I don't want that, I want to feel like I'm having a conversation with friends.

How often do you read your friends list (e.g. daily, every other day, once a week, etc.)?
At least once every day.

You really enjoy reading about:
The same stuff I like to post about. I love original worlds, deep worldbuilding, created species, stories and characters, art, crafts, and the general love of making things.

You have very little interest in reading about:
The stuff on my dealbreaker list. I'm also really not into sports, your SO, kids, job, whatever. Also I'm really not interested in sex stuff or your kinky creations, although I'm cool with their existence it can feel alienating not being into that stuff. But I don't care if you post about them, it's your life - I'm just more interested in other stuff!

Your thoughts on journals that regularly include any of the following: memes, linkspams, gifs, photos, videos, etc?
Not especially interested, but if you have fun with that stuff go do what makes you happy!

When it comes to comments on your posts, what matters more -- quality or quantity?
I really don't want to make people feel like they have to comment in a particular way. If you want to leave long, thoughtful comments, I love that, but if you just want to say things like "This!" or "I like that thing too!" or just "+1" then go right ahead. Comments of any sort are welcome.

Do you unfriend people who don't comment much, even if you know they are reading you regularly?
Not at all! That sort of thing is only going to make people feel anxious that they're not commenting enough and the last thing I want to do is to make people feel like they have to meet a social interaction quota! (I've been there. It wasn't pretty.)

What is your approach when it comes to commenting on other journals?
If I have something to say, I'll say it. I'm a bit shy, and can get afraid of saying the wrong thing, but I do try to drop by and say hello or leave nice words.

When you friend someone, but things don't really click, do you unfriend them without warning, or do you send them a note first? How do you prefer to be unfriended in similar circumstances?
I usually just unfriend, but I rarely do even that unless you're posting stuff I find upsetting on a regular basis.

AND LASTLY

Friending memes often ask people to list their favourite TV shows, movies, books, etc., but more often than not, those aren't things people actually write about in their journal. Do you have any favourite TV shows, movies, books, etc., that you DO often write about -- not necessarily in a fandom sort of way, just in general?

  • See my icon? See my website? PETZ. Not the Ubisoft Nintendogs clones, the proper 90s PF Magic games. I do a lot of modding work with breedfiles and lately I've been involved in trying to crack the deeper workings of the game and delving into its code. The Petz games are very precious to me and where I got my start on the internet in the 90s. Here's my petz minisite.

  • The game Niche, which is the subject of my one lonely not very fannish fanfic and lots of artwork.

  • Other stuff - I sometimes get excited about Pokemon, and I'm hyped for Galar (my home is a pokemon region now, that is SO. AWESOME.). As you can probably see by now the closest things I have to fandoms are sandboxy settings with lots of biology to play with. I love anything with a good bestiary. Also fond of Britcoms and I love Red Dwarf; I'm a regular attendee of Dimension Jump (going again next year!). Finally, if you love Knightmare and the Crystal Maze, you're speaking my language.

Any final thoughts you'd like to share with potential new friends?
Yeees, if you started to wonder, I'm a furry, okay? No, it's not a sex thing. I just think animal people are fun to draw. Please don't be scared!

Age range (e.g 20s, 30s, etc.): will be 30 in August

Hot button/deal breaker issues that will likely lead to unfriending: too much negativity or political talk

Do you have an "About Me" post new friends can read to get a sense of who you are, the people you talk about regularly, etc.? yep, it's public and pinned.

Is your profile up-to-date or at all useful? I think so.

List a few things you think it's important new friends know about you right away: I only have 2 regular tags in use, if you need me to use a tag for whatever purposes, tell me about it.

You mostly write about: my life, Old School RuneScape

You never or very rarely write about: anything else I guess

Is your journal mostly public, locked, or a mix of public and locked? mostly locked. I like to have a newer unlocked post every once in a while, so you can get an idea of what my posts can be like.

Do you use filters for certain types of posts (e.g. fandom-related posts, or posts about sex, or mental health issues, etc.)? no

Your posting frequency (e.g. daily, every few days, weekly, etc.): weekly, sometimes I might post more but it's not usual. if I do post more than once, the others are short posts.

Does your journal frequently include any of the following: memes, linkspams, gifs, photos, videos, etc? uh, not so far. but if I do add images or videos, they will always be under a cut.

What do you enjoy most about journaling? I dunno

How often do you read your friends list (e.g. daily, every other day, once a week, etc.)? I check it several times a day

You really enjoy reading about: video games, life, accomplishments

You have very little interest in reading about: politics, fandom stuff

Your thoughts on journals that regularly include any of the following: memes, linkspams, gifs, photos, videos, etc? those things are all fine with me.

When it comes to comments on your posts, what matters more -- quality or quantity? so far, I don't get comments super often, so I dunno lol

Do you unfriend people who don't comment much, even if you know they are reading you regularly? no

What is your approach when it comes to commenting on other journals? I comment if I have something to say

When you friend someone, but things don't really click, do you unfriend them without warning, or do you send them a note first? How do you prefer to be unfriended in similar circumstances? I haven't had that happen so far, everyone I'm subbed to, I like. for me, just unsub, it's ok.

AND LASTLY

Friending memes often ask people to list their favourite TV shows, movies, books, etc., but more often than not, those aren't things people actually write about in their journal. Is there an interesting story behind your username?

I have two main accounts here on dreamwidth, I am accepting friends requests on both accounts and they predominantly have very different content.

This one [personal profile] dreamwriteremmy is my personal account, and its story spawns from a fairly niche but popular 2007-2014 LiveJournal self-insert Kingdom Hearts RPG series called World Refugees, which was a spin-off of the ever popular "Zombie Invasion Meme" going around at the time of creation. My character went by Emmy and originally used my old journal [livejournal.com profile] ladybrighid3333. In 2009 I switched journals and chose this name because it was the name my character had chosen for herself in-game a a year or so earlier.

[personal profile] dreamwriters is our writing/art/public-fandom account. The story behind it is that it was a err... typographical error of sorts? XD Haha. We wrote a guest article for a Healthy Multiplicity by the plural friend currently running it a couple years ago as a part of the December Blogging Meme and as a request from a singlet (at least i think they were a singlet) with a plural friend looking for tips on ways to manage dissociation and time-weirdness, and at the time, all our sites used the tag "The DreamWriters Dreaming" and uh said plural friend didn't ask us for our system name tag and assumed that our system name was DreamWriters based on our website names. So, it kinda stuck and we decided it was too much of a hassle to correct them and why not? Superheroes can have 2 alteregos, why can't we? XD So Dreamers United became our personal overarching system name and The DreamWriters is the professional overarching alterego system name, which we use for business/advocacy purposes. And a couple years ago we corrected the username on this journal to be dreamwriters on all its mirrors. :D

Location and language(s):

northeastern massachusetts, currently Lowell MA. I speak predominantly English. I know some Spanish (used to be fluent but i don't remember a lot of it anymore), a tiny bit of Russian, a tiny bit of French-Canadian, a tiny bit of Cantonese Chinese, and a tiny bit of ASL. I'm currently only actively learning Cantonese and ASL, though.

Age range (e.g 20s, 30s, etc.):
30s

Hot button/deal breaker issues that will likely lead to unfriending:Eh. Proselytizing in general for ANYTHING (I love my Jesus-loving friends and my non-Jesus Loving friends -- I'm a Unitarian Universalist and an eclectic religious syncretist. I blend spiritual beliefs under the umbrella of "most spiritual teachers taught Love". Witch and Healer is a part of my personal spirituality and no one is going to change that for me). Abusive behavior if I get a report from someone else that you ain't a good person. Sometimes we just don't click and i may unfriend you for that too, but generally i'll let you know and i'd appreciate that being mutual.

Do you have an "About Me" post new friends can read to get a sense of who you are, the people you talk about regularly, etc.?
Sort-of but they're only semi-up-to-date. basically anything linked on the friends only post is fairly relevant.
Is your profile up-to-date or at all useful?
so-so. it's a little outdated still. i haven't gotten around to fixing it up completely.
List a few things you think it's important new friends know about you right away:
We're plural. We are predominantly composed of fictives and factives (that means people based off fictional people and people based of RL people). We're disabled. We have mental health and learning challenges. We are cat people predominantly, though warming up to dogs. We're queer & an afab nonbinary femme. We are creatives and fandom people.
You mostly write about:
real life, innerlife, ranting, writing, to-do lists, fandom, cosplay, art, graphics, memes/quizzes, occasionally video posts.
You never or very rarely write about:
NSFW stuff on here, politics
Is your journal mostly public, locked, or a mix of public and locked?
a mix, but mostly locked
Do you use filters for certain types of posts (e.g. fandom-related posts, or posts about sex, or mental health issues, etc.)?
Yes. We have 3 requestable filters. We have the cheerleading filter which is a productivity filter -- you post your to-dos, and there's a subcomment thread for people to "cheer on" each other. You can request critiques, if you're doing a writing/art project, however critiques are opt-in on both ends. 😄 We have the In-System Personal Stories filter, which delves into fictive and factive trauma, squicky/taboo system stuff, and basically anything we don't feel comfortable making completely public at the time. The final filter is the Are You OK filter. Sporadically, we will post a comments disabled self-care checkin post that simply asks "Are You Okay? This is a gentle self-care reminder."
Your posting frequency (e.g. daily, every few days, weekly, etc.):
variable. Could be multiple times a day, could be once a month. It really depends on what's going on and whether i'm more on other social media.
Does your journal frequently include any of the following: memes, linkspams, gifs, photos, videos, etc?
Occasionally. Mostly memes/photos/videos. Occasionally linkspams and gifs. I always try to explain/image describe what most photos/gifs are.
What do you enjoy most about journaling?
Getting shit out of our brain basically.
How often do you read your friends list (e.g. daily, every other day, once a week, etc.)?
I read daily. I may or may not comment. You may have to wait a week until I do my binge commenting spree on old posts.
You really enjoy reading about:
I"m open to anything tbh. I like daily posts reflecting on day. I like posts reflecting on fandom interests even if I don't share them.
You have very little interest in reading about:
Eh i'm not so interested in rl nsfw/kink filters, though i will read them. ❤️ I tend to personally keep my kink stuff on a separate journal entirely from both of the above because i have a couple kinks people have STRONG feelings about. Feel free to ask me in a DM, if you're interested in that one, but i'm really selective about who i add to the locked stuff on it TBH.
Your thoughts on journals that regularly include any of the following: memes, linkspams, gifs, photos, videos, etc?
perfectly fine!
When it comes to comments on your posts, what matters more -- quality or quantity?
Neither tbh. I accept nonverbal/semiverbal/low-spoon commenters! See my commenting policy! :D
Do you unfriend people who don't comment much, even if you know they are reading you regularly?
Not typically. See previous question's link.
What is your approach when it comes to commenting on other journals?
I may or may not comment. I often look for a blogger's commenting policy, so if you have one I will ADORE you! Often, you may be waiting a week until I do my binge commenting spree.
When you friend someone, but things don't really click, do you unfriend them without warning, or do you send them a note first? How do you prefer to be unfriended in similar circumstances?
Typically, I will message you UNLESS you end up being the second deal breaker in which case I've been warned that you are not safe to interact with. If we don't click, please tell me you're leaving! That way I can remove you mutually.
AND LASTLY

Friending memes often ask people to list their favourite TV shows, movies, books, etc., but more often than not, those aren't things people actually write about in their journal. Do you have any favourite TV shows, movies, books, etc., that you DO often write about -- not necessarily in a fandom sort of way, just in general?
Young Wizards series, Magic Ex Libris series, Harry Potter, anything Night Vale Presents podcasts/books, The Sims, The Rise of the Shield Hero, Black Clover, Blue Gender, Studio Ghibli, Gravity Falls, some horror stuff occasionally. Sometimes MCU/DCU, various original fictions I follow.
Any final thoughts you'd like to share with potential new friends? i don't think so.

Is there an interesting story behind your username?

Back in ye olden dayes of Usenet I was once involved in putting together a music festival-slash-meetup for the alt.gothic newsgroup. (Said event is still going on, I worked on years 4 & 8, and think this year was number 25.)

Anyway back in those days not everybody was online and Usenet and IRC were the main gathering places for people with similar interests, so being involved in the event meant that most of the net.goths knew who I was. I went on a trip to San Francisco and I was introduced to a woman at a club who immediately did a double-take and said, "Wait, are you the Siobhan?

I thought that was hysterical and it's been my username ever since.

Location and language(s):

Toronto, Ontario, Canada. English. I am slowly and painfully trying to teach myself Spanish. (And I do mean painfully, I suck at languages.)

Age range (e.g 20s, 30s, etc.):

50's!

Hot button/deal breaker issues that will likely lead to unfriending:

Racism, sexism, ableism, transphobia, anything along those lines.

Any science denial, by which I mean I don't care if somebody is religious but a large portion of my country is on fire, so if they tries to argue climate change isn't real I will probably yell at them. I just lost my immune-compromised partner to the flu, so if somebody tries to argue anti-vaccine I will yell at them VERY LOUDLY and then probably cry for a while.

Do you have an "About Me" post new friends can read to get a sense of who you are, the people you talk about regularly, etc.?

Nope! I know I should probably write one! I know I never will!

Is your profile up-to-date or at all useful?

Up to date, yes. Useful, not so much. As in it's just as empty as it's always been.

List a few things you think it's important new friends know about you right away:

I'm queer & polyam and will mention multiple partners in my posts.

I have chronic depression and so my posts tend to be a bit... fatalistic I guess? I don't go on about terrible my life is or anything like that, but it does tend to colour how I express myself.

I have very strong political opinions. Again, I don't post a ton about specific political events but it does colour my worldview and that will come out in my posts.

You mostly write about:

My life. Things I'm thinking about, things that catch my interest.

You never or very rarely write about:

Sports. I genuinely have no clue about any of it.

Is your journal mostly public, locked, or a mix of public and locked?

99% public. The very few locked posts are usually posts in progress or for private conversations with specific people.

On the plus side that means if you skim my entries you can pretty much see what I'm about.

Do you use filters for certain types of posts (e.g. fandom-related posts, or posts about sex, or mental health issues, etc.)?

I don't filter, but I do tag everything.

Your posting frequency (e.g. daily, every few days, weekly, etc.):

Alas the era of having time to post every day is long behind me. I try to post weekly at the minimum but even that tends to slide - I mostly post from work and sometimes I'm just too busy. The depression doesn't help with that.

Does your journal frequently include any of the following: memes, linkspams, gifs, photos, videos, etc?

Rarely. I do the odd meme because it gives me something to talk about when the well is dry and I will post photos if I'm travelling.

What do you enjoy most about journaling?

I got into it because it was a great place to have conversations. I keep it up now because it's still the best format for lengthy posts. I hate Facebook like poison and twitter is not a great format for anything but quick check-ins.

How often do you read your friends list (e.g. daily, every other day, once a week, etc.)?

Daily

You really enjoy reading about:

Pretty much everything as long as it's actually coming from the person posting and not just endless reblogs. Daily updates about life or philosophical musings, it's all good.

You have very little interest in reading about:

Sports. The latest celebrity news. Diets.

Your thoughts on journals that regularly include any of the following: memes, linkspams, gifs, photos, videos, etc?

A little goes a long way.

When it comes to comments on your posts, what matters more -- quality or quantity?

Both are good.

Do you unfriend people who don't comment much, even if you know they are reading you regularly?

I don't unfriend people for not commenting. At some point I will eventually go through my reading list and realize that half the journals have been deactivated, and then I'll take them off.

What is your approach when it comes to commenting on other journals?

I never do it as much as I intend to for the same reason I don't post as much as I intend to. Eventually enough time will pass that I'll get embarrassed and I never will finish the comment that sitting half-finished in my drafts.

When you friend someone, but things don't really click, do you unfriend them without warning, or do you send them a note first? How do you prefer to be unfriended in similar circumstances?

I just unfriend. I friend people pretty fast and then just move on if we don't click. Likewise if somebody unfriends me I just assume I am not their cup of tea and I don't worry about it.

AND LASTLY

Friending memes often ask people to list their favourite TV shows, movies, books, etc., but more often than not, those aren't things people actually write about in their journal. Do you have any favourite TV shows, movies, books, etc., that you DO often write about -- not necessarily in a fandom sort of way, just in general?

I do a regular post about what books I have read recently and keep a count through the year. Those are tagged and the contents are behind a cut so they are easy to skip.

Other than that I don't really write about media unless it brings up some other thoughts I want to noodle on.

Any final thoughts you'd like to share with potential new friends?

Like I said, my journal is public so feel free to friend, I'll friend you back and we'll see how it goes.

[Edited to Add]
I should probably warn people. I swear like a trucker.

Friend me!

Is there an interesting story behind your username? Not at all. It's a shorter version of my actual name.

Location and language(s): Toronto, Canada. I post only in English, but I do read and understand French.

Age range (e.g 20s, 30s, etc.): 50s

Hot button/deal breaker issues that will likely lead to unfriending: I have low tolerance for people who are anti-science/facts, and who are really into stuff like astrology, tarot, etc. It's not necessarily a deal breaker, but it makes things difficult.

Do you have an "About Me" post new friends can read to get a sense of who you are, the people you talk about regularly, etc.? I do! But it's Friends-locked!

Is your profile up-to-date or at all useful? My profile is not very up-to-date. And likely not very useful, although I do explain my approach to subscribing and granting access and all that. So maybe somewhat useful?

List a few things you think it's important new friends know about you right away: I crosspost pretty much every thing to Livejournal (I'm siobhan63 over there), but I don't import comments from LJ to here. I have the greatest job in the world, but no one understands what I do. I am a fairly big sports fan, mostly baseball (Jays), basketball (Raptors), tennis and curling. I watch too much TV and I love reading police procedurals -- especially by British and Irish authors. My life is not exciting, so no drama from me!

You mostly write about: My day to day life, so my work, my home life (married, no kids, some pets). Occasionally a bit about TV shows I watch, but not in detail, save one exception which I will discuss further down. Occasionally some other random topical things.

You never or very rarely write about: Fandom -- not into it. Otherwise, religion, sex and politics. No, seriously!

Is your journal mostly public, locked, or a mix of public and locked? I would say 99% locked.

Do you use filters for certain types of posts (e.g. fandom-related posts, or posts about sex, or mental health issues, etc.)? No. I may occasionally put up spoiler warnings if I'm discussing a TV show plot, but beyond that, no.

Your posting frequency (e.g. daily, every few days, weekly, etc.): Pretty much daily. It's pretty rare that I go more than 2 days without posting.

Does your journal frequently include any of the following: memes, linkspams, gifs, photos, videos, etc? I am currently doing a 365-day question meme, so yes, there's that, and I will from time to time do other memes if I find them interesting, but I rarely post photos or videos, and I am not into gifs.

What do you enjoy most about journaling? I journal mostly for myself -- it's a way to remember things that happen. That I also make friends while doing it is an added bonus!

How often do you read your friends list (e.g. daily, every other day, once a week, etc.)? Daily. More than once a day, usually.

You really enjoy reading about: Other people's day to day lives, but not in the detailed minute-by-minute, hour-by-hour minutiae sort of way. Also, if we have some shows in common, I'm game to discuss them, but not in a fandom sort of way. Just in a general fan of sort of way.

You have very little interest in reading about: Fandom stuff. I also have zero interest in other people's sex lives. Conspiracy theories. The new-agey stuff I mentioned previously.

Your thoughts on journals that regularly include any of the following: memes, linkspams, gifs, photos, videos, etc? If your journal is mostly that sort of thing, not that interested. I also prefer if photos and such are behind a cut. I check DW out at work, and don't appreciate huge photos appearing on my screen randomly.

When it comes to comments on your posts, what matters more -- quality or quantity? Actual contribution to the discussion, such as it is. I journal largely for myself, so I don't expect people to comment. It's great when they do, but I don't need comments just for the sake of comments.

Do you unfriend people who don't comment much, even if you know they are reading you regularly? Nope, because that's what I do a lot of the time.

What is your approach when it comes to commenting on other journals? If I have something to contribute to the discussion, I will comment. If others before me have largely said what I was going to say, I don't feel a need to chime in. Also, it takes me awhile to get a sense of new people, so until I feel that I have a sense of who you are, I likely won't say much, unless it's something that I have direct experience with or a specific answer (e.g. if you're looking for a good steak marinade recipe or something like that!).

When you friend someone, but things don't really click, do you unfriend them without warning, or do you send them a note first? How do you prefer to be unfriended in similar circumstances? If the journal is largely public, I will often just unsubscribe without providing a head's up. But if, like mine, it's mostly locked, I will let you know before I revoke your access so that you can do the same if you want. Since my journal is mostly locked, I would prefer to be informed if you're going to stop following me so that I can revoke your access.

AND LASTLY

Friending memes often ask people to list their favourite TV shows, movies, books, etc., but more often than not, those aren't things people actually write about in their journal. Do you have any favourite TV shows, movies, books, etc., that you DO often write about -- not necessarily in a fandom sort of way, just in general? As alluded to above, yes I do, and that would be Outlander. When it's actually airing, I may write up episode posts, but I put them behind a cut, so people who aren't interested can just ignore those posts. I may also post other Outlander-related stuff at other times. Not really fandom stuff, like fanfic and such, mostly just casting news or links to interviews, etc.

Any final thoughts you'd like to share with potential new friends? As I stated, I'm not exactly exciting -- rarely travel, don't do much out of the ordinary, but I welcome new friends, so if you want to give me a try, let me know and I'll grant you access! If it doesn't work out, no worries!
